For families of children with autism and other developmental disorders, getting the right diagnosis can be the first step toward a brighter future.
During SAMS’ recent Return & Rebuild Medical Mission, the SAMS Autism Academy brought specialized developmental care directly to children and families in Aleppo.
At the Salah Al-Din Community Center, our multidisciplinary team conducted comprehensive assessments for children suspected of being on the autism spectrum. Using evidence-based diagnostic tools, clinical assessments, and family interviews, specialists were able to give families something many had been searching for: answers, guidance, and a path forward.
Each family received individualized results and recommendations, along with referrals based on their child’s needs.
But this work goes beyond a single assessment day.
Through the SAMS Autism Academy, we are expanding access to early, evidence-based assessment and specialized care while training and strengthening local professionals who can continue supporting children with autism and other developmental disorders long after our medical missions end.
Your support helps make this possible.
With your generosity, SAMS can continue bringing specialized care to children and families across Syria—and help build the local expertise and health systems needed to care for them for years to come.
