Maternal & Child Health: Saving Mothers and Newborn Lives

In Syria, thousands of mothers and babies are at risk due to limited access to healthcare. SAMS provides lifesaving maternal and child health services — from pregnancy to newborn care — ensuring families survive and thrive.

Syria is in Critical need of Maternal and Child Healthcare

Years of conflict have severely damaged Syria’s healthcare system, leaving pregnant women and newborns without access to essential medical care.

Without proper care, preventable deaths during pregnancy and childbirth continue to rise.

When Every Second Counts: Khaled’s Story

One of the hardest moments for any mother is seeing her newborn fight for their life.

Just 18 hours old, baby Khaled was rushed to Kurin Health Center in critical condition. Thanks to the swift action and expertise of SAMS’ medical team, Khaled was stabilized and transferred for specialized care, giving him a fighting chance at life.

Through centers like Kurin in Idlib, Syria, SAMS delivers urgent, life-saving care when every second counts.

Across all of Syria, SAMS is helping save the lives of newborns and mothers. In January 2026 alone, over 600 mothers at Al-Mayadeen Hospital in Deir Ezzor safely brought new life into the world. Each birth was supported by skilled care made possible by donors like you.
