After fleeing Syria in search of treatment for her daughter Lulu, who lost most of her eyesight due to diabetes complications, 70-year-old Hawra found support at a medical center in Zaatari Refugee Camp operated by Syrian American Medical Society and supported by Anera. Through SAMS’ care, Lulu received life-saving insulin treatment and specialized injection pens that help her safely manage her diabetes despite her limited vision.
