This summer, more than 155 volunteer physicians, specialists, and medical students returned to Syria with one shared purpose: to heal, serve, and help rebuild the country’s healthcare system.
Across two medical missions, they traveled to communities throughout Aleppo, Damascus, Homs, Hama, Daraa, Deir ez-Zor, Al-Hasakeh, Al-Raqqah, Idlib, Tartous, Latakia, and beyond, bringing specialized care to patients who have gone years without access to treatment.
They performed life-changing surgeries, treated children with complex medical conditions, provided cancer care, mental health services, cardiology interventions, and countless specialized consultations. Just as importantly, they worked side by side with Syrian healthcare professionals, sharing knowledge, mentoring resident physicians, and strengthening the healthcare system for the future.
For many patients, this wasn’t simply a doctor’s visit. It was the first time in years that hope arrived at their hospital door.
But rebuilding healthcare doesn’t end when the mission does.
Today, you can help continue this work. Your donation will provide lifesaving medical care, essential medications and supplies, and the training that empowers local healthcare workers to care for their communities long after our volunteers return home.
Donate today and help SAMS continue rebuilding Syria’s healthcare system, one patient, one physician, and one community at a time.
