As Dhul Hijjah brings a sacred time of giving and mercy, cancer patients in Syria continue to face treatment within a fragile health system, often forced to travel long distances or go without care entirely.

Last year, 21,000+ oncology services were delivered across SAMS clinics in Idlib, Deir ez-Zor, Aleppo, Daraa, and Hama.

Behind every service is a patient fighting for time, dignity, and a chance to live.

One of those patients was Mrs. Maryam. For years, she lived with constant stomach pain without answers, without diagnosis, and without access to care in Hama. Over time, her condition worsened, silently and steadily.

When she finally reached Bab Al-Hawa Hospital with SAMS support, she was already critically ill, needing urgent transfusions and a CT scan. The diagnosis was heartbreaking: advanced stomach cancer, untreated for too long.

But her story did not end there.

With SAMS-supported care, Maryam finally began free chemotherapy, receiving not only treatment, but the dignity and chance to fight that had been out of reach for years. “My feelings are indescribable… What matters most now is my recovery,” she shared softly.

Her journey reflects both the cost of delayed care and the impact of timely intervention when it is finally made possible.

This Dhul Hijjah, your giving can ensure patients like Maryam receive life-saving care in time, not when it is too late, but when every moment still holds hope.
