This month, SAMS physicians launched their April medical mission in Syria, delivering advanced surgical and specialized cardiac care that restored rhythm to hearts worn down by pain, uncertainty, and long-term illness.

At the SAMS Heart Hospital in Idlib, the team provided comprehensive care for complex heart conditions throughout the mission, including 15 major open-heart surgeries, 34 rhythm-correction procedures such as ablations and pacemaker implantations, and 48 specialist consultations.

In parallel, they conducted a neurological training workshop to strengthen local medical capacity, ensuring that critical expertise is not only delivered, but also built and sustained within the communities that need it most.

At Al-Birr Hospital in Homs, the team performed advanced cardiac surgeries, including a complex mitral valve replacement and tricuspid repair for a critically ill patient, successfully restoring stable heart function and marking a new beginning in her recovery.

One of the most powerful stories from this mission is Abu Ahmad’s.

For 13 years, 36-year-old Abu Ahmad lived with sudden, life-threatening episodes of tachycardia that repeatedly required emergency intervention to restore his heart rhythm.

The cause was a hidden electrical pathway in his heart, triggering dangerous arrhythmias without warning. Its location on the left side made treatment especially complex and high-risk.

SAMS’ medical team performed a carefully guided catheter ablation using advanced techniques and specialized tools, successfully eliminating the abnormal pathway without complications.

Today, the episodes no longer control his life, and a long-lost sense of peace has returned.

This is more than a medical success – it’s a life restored, and a heart that finally found its rhythm again, thanks to your support!
