A cancer diagnosis is devastating. Now imagine facing it in a country where medications are scarce, hospitals are under attack, and treatment is nearly impossible to access.
For many Syrians, cancer has become a battle fought not only against the disease but against overwhelming obstacles—long journeys to find care, financial hardship, and uncertainty about whether treatment will be available.
Yet, there is hope. Through SAMS’ Oncology Program, we run the only specialized cancer centers in Syria, providing chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and life-saving surgical treatment completely free of charge. Patients who once had nowhere to turn now have access to consistent, quality care—close to home, surrounded by loved ones.
For one young girl, this meant returning home to complete her treatment after years of uncertainty. After enduring intensive chemotherapy and the trauma of being far from family, she finally found the care and support she needed at a SAMS-supported cancer center. Today, she is in remission—and dreaming of a future where she can help others just as she was helped.
