This holiday season, we’re reflecting on the resilience and optimism of the Syrian people. Their journey through 14 years of conflict has been heart-wrenching, but there have also been moments of hope and healing that were made possible by the support of compassionate individuals like you.
Recently, SAMS Board Chair, Dr. Abdulfatah Elshaar, had the privilege of visiting Syria, and his words remind us of the challenges that persist, “When we look at the Syrian people, the pain they’ve endured over these years is hard to describe. Seeing the devastation in certain neighborhoods—buildings reduced to rubble—was overwhelming.”
But in the midst of the destruction, Dr. Elshaar also witnessed the power of the Syrian community’s resilience, “We visited a children’s hospital in Damascus, the largest facility providing care to kids from all over Syria. The care being given there is life-changing, and it’s hard not to feel hope in the air. Despite it all, for the first time in their history, the Syrian people are beginning to see the light of hope. That’s something incredible to be a part of.”
We are grateful for your steadfast support during the darkest hours of the conflict. Your compassion and generosity have made an immense difference, allowing SAMS to deliver life-saving medical care and crucial aid to the Syrian people. With your ongoing partnership, we can continue to provide vital medical relief, build healthy communities, and foster a brighter future for the people of Syria.
From all of us at SAMS, we wish you and your loved ones a holiday season filled with peace, joy, and good health.
