SAMS in Egypt

SAMS entered and expanded its operations in Egypt in 2017 through a partnership with the Ain Sham University in Cairo to provide critical cardiovascular interventional procedures to vulnerable communities all across Egypt. In April 2024, SAMS further expanded its cardiology mission led by three international volunteers, which helped deliver specialized care to patients with advanced heart conditions.

SAMS launched a medical mission in Alexandria, Egypt,  that treated 29 patients with 50 stents donated by the Medtronic Foundation. The team was led by interventional cardiologists Dr. Hikmat Kabbani and Dr. Zaki Lababidi, with Sharolyn McClurg as the nurse practitioner.

The team was supported by attending cardiologists from Alexandria University Hospital, Dr. Amr Zaki and Dr. Mohammad Loutfi, and other hospital staff and fellows.
