CRISIS IN SOUTHERN SYRIA:
HELP SAMS RESPOND
In the southern governorates of Suwayda and Daraa, an intense military escalation has resulted in hundreds of civilian casualties, mass displacement, and a growing humanitarian crisis.
Hospitals and healthcare facilities in southern Syria are overwhelmed and facing critical shortages of medications, supplies, and limited or no power. At least 100,000 civilians have been displaced from their homes, and are in urgent need of food, water, shelter, and healthcare, while tens of thousands remain trapped in their homes in similarly dire conditions.
In response to the recent wave of displacement from Suwayda to southern Syria, SAMS launched a comprehensive emergency medical effort across multiple locations. In Ar’a, SAMS teams provided urgent care to 120 individuals at two shelters—offering first aid for wounds and burns, follow-up care for women, and distributing essential medications, and more.
In Basr El-Silk, SAMS deployed a fully equipped mobile clinic in coordination with the Ministry of Health and the Daraa Health Directorate, treating over 80 patients in one day and receiving commendation from local officials.
Simultaneously, amid ongoing security and military escalation, SAMS ambulance teams transported more than 50 emergency cases—20 of whom received critical first aid during transit—ensuring timely, life-saving medical intervention despite the challenging conditions.
In response to this emergency, SAMS dispatched mobile medical teams to reach displaced families, while also sending healthcare workers, ambulances, medications, and supplies to support the local emergency response.
