SAMS Foundation’s mission is dedicated to delivering life-saving services, revitalizing health systems during crisis, and promoting medical education via a network of humanitarians in Syria, the US, and beyond. SAMS began in 1998 as a medical society that bridged knowledge between Syria and the US, transitioning into a humanitarian response organization in 2011 amidst the Syrian uprising. Aside from the US and Syria, SAMS has registered branch offices or local affiliate entities in Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Greece, Turkiye, Ukraine, and the occupied Palestinian territories. In 2024, SAMS provided some 4.4 million medical services for 1.46 million people, through a network of over 100 health facilities and more than 2,400 health workers in northern Syria, southern Turkey, the Attica region of Greece, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Gaza, Morocco, Libya, and Ukraine.

Position Summary

The Corporate and Foundation Partnerships Specialist will play a pivotal role in growing and diversifying SAMS Foundation’s revenue by cultivating, managing, and stewarding sustainable partnerships with corporations and philanthropic foundations, amid a changing funding landscape. This role focuses on: 1) pursuing strategic partnership opportunities and cultivating relationships with corporate and philanthropic foundations that result in funding for SAMS; and 2) building long-term partnerships that mutually advance SAMS’ mission and fulfil corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives of private sector investors in healthcare and human rights. As assigned, this role will also support cultivation of high-net-worth individual donors and family philanthropies whose giving aligns with SAMS’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy and Partnership Development
• Develop and implement a targeted strategy, donor mapping, and work plan to engage corporations and philanthropic foundations, as well as high net-worth individual donors, in support of SAMS’ mission.
• Identify aligned funding opportunities and partnership models, including CSR initiatives, sponsorship opportunities, unrestricted support, and multi-year program-specific grants.
• Advise leadership on trends in corporate and foundation philanthropy within global health, humanitarian, and development sectors.

Donor Cultivation and Stewardship
• Build and manage a portfolio of key corporate and foundation prospects and individual high net-worth donors/family philanthropies.
• Lead donor cultivation and stewardship through tailored engagement plans, events, and strategic briefings.
• Coordinate with senior leadership and program teams to facilitate high-level donor communications and meetings.

Proposal Development and Reporting
• Advise Headquarters Programs, Fundraising, and Development teams on how best to develop engaging concept notes, proposals, pitch materials, and corporate sponsorship packages.
• Review and provide feedback on products drafted by the Programs and External Communications team (content, tone, design), to optimize successful engagement with donors.
• Support timely donor reporting and acknowledgment processes.

Internal Coordination
• Collaborate across Business Development, Fundraising, Communications, and Programs teams to ensure consistency in messaging and partnership strategy.
• Contribute to internal pipeline tracking, donor data management, and partnership knowledge sharing.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in the Business Development CRM database and provide regular progress reports.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, international development, communications, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 6 years of experience in corporate and foundation fundraising, including 4 years securing contributions of $50,000+ and multi-year donor funding.
• Proven success in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding relationships with institutional and corporate donors.
• Strong research, communication, and negotiation skills with familiarity in CRM systems. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
• Commitment to SAMS’s humanitarian mission and values.

Desirable Attributes:
• Experience working in or with the Middle East, particularly Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, or Turkey.
• Familiarity with health, mental health, or humanitarian programming in crisis or post conflict settings.
• Arabic fluency is an asset.

Performance Metrics:
• Number and value of new corporate and foundation partnerships established.
• Amount of funds raised through new partnerships.
• Retention and renewal rate of corporate and foundation donors.
• Quality and timeliness of donor reports and stewardship communications.
