You created hope with every heartbeat

Dear Fellow Humanitarian,

This Thanksgiving week, while the world celebrated with family, 35 volunteer doctors, surgeons, dentists, and trainees brought a different gift to Syria: hope and healing.

As part of SAMS’ Gratitude Mission, these volunteers traveled across Damascus, Rural Damascus, Aleppo, Idlib, Al-Nabak, Latakia, and other regions, delivering life-saving care to children in communities where hospitals struggle to meet even the most urgent needs.

The mission set out to repair 100 children’s hearts. In just the first three days, SAMS volunteers performed dozens of cardiac procedures, including pediatric cardiac surgeries, cardiac catheterizations in both Aleppo and Al-Qalamoun, and complex repairs such as Tetralogy of Fallot, ASD, and VSD closures. Teams conducted clinical rounds, consulted on challenging internal medicine cases, and supported ERs and ICUs treating patients in critical condition.

Training was just as essential. Across multiple hospitals, SAMS volunteers led workshops on bronchoscopy, chest ultrasound, and pediatric anesthesia; strengthened stroke management and hematology care through bedside consultations; trained pharmacy students at Damascus University in drug compounding and patient care; and worked with nephrology teams in Aleppo on expanding specialized kidney care. The first Pediatric Advanced Life Support course was launched, reaching 27 participants, while pharmacy evaluations and workflow improvements helped strengthen hospital systems from within.

All of this was achieved in only three days—a testament to what compassionate, coordinated humanitarian work can accomplish.

Every procedure, consultation, and hospital improvement represents a child’s life saved and a community strengthened. Your support makes missions like this possible. With your donation today, you can help SAMS deliver more life-saving care, training, and hope to families across Syria.

Share Gratitude.
