Dear Fellow Humanitarian,
More than 12.9 million people in Syria are food insecure, with 3 million facing severe hunger. The situation has been exacerbated by recent escalations in conflict, mass displacement, and rising food prices. Essential items like rice, sugar, and oil are in short supply, and food prices are soaring, making it even harder for families to afford the food they need.
This past week, SAMS partnered with the Insan Organization to distribute 100,000 free loaves of bread to families in Aleppo and Hama, offering hope, dignity, and a sense of relief amid unimaginable hardship. Food insecurity doesn’t just mean empty stomachs; it means an entire generation at risk of malnutrition and long-term health challenges. Access to bread, a staple of the Syrian diet, can provide both immediate nourishment and also essential nutrients crucial for growth and well-being. |
