Overview
The Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) is seeking a dedicated and performance driven Board Manager to manage all aspects of Membership & Events to join our team.
The Board Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of membership, from outreach, chapter relations and acquisition to retention and relationship management and the successful execution of society programs and events.
They will understand member needs, maintain and improve member benefits, and engage with members regularly to ensure satisfaction and renewal.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement member recruitment campaigns and retention strategies.
- Manage all aspects of the membership process including applications, renewals, and database management.
- Engage in community building events to help grow membership base.
- Serve as central point of contact for membership chapters for program coordination assistance and rollout of key initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with members, addressing queries, needs, and complaints promptly.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure member satisfaction and consistency in member communications.
- Monitor and report on key metrics related to membership growth and generate reports to inform member engagement strategy.
- Develop membership marketing campaigns and promotional materials.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to improve member services and programs based on member feedback and needs.
- Represent SAMS at key events.
- Oversees the organization and execution of society programs, meetings, conferences, workshops, and chapter events. Additional functions include, but are not limited to, registration and housing processing, final bill reconciliation, hotel, venue and vendor request for proposals, on-site meeting support, shipping, badge creation and overall meeting setup responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) with at least three years related work experience in membership or fundraising with preference given to those with association and/or nonprofit experience.
- Experience supporting C-Level Executives and supporting Members of the Board.
- Excellent customer service skills and attitude.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Outstanding verbal/written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and membership/development databases are required.
- Experience with Growth Zone preferred
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, projects and priorities effectively and professionally.
- Ability to travel within the United States.
- Some moderate lifting (up to 25 pounds) may be required on an occasional basis.
- Proficient in Arabic highly desired
