Position Overview:
The Senior Communications Officer is responsible for managing SAMS’ digital content strategy, with a focus on website management, social media, and digital marketing. This role involves creating and scheduling engaging content in both English and Arabic, overseeing content calendars, and ensuring consistent messaging across all digital platforms. The Senior Communications Officer will monitor and analyze digital performance, optimize strategies, and support digital advertising efforts to enhance SAMS’ online presence. Additionally, the role requires collaboration with field and HQ teams to produce multimedia content, build relationships with influencers, and ensure alignment with SAMS’ broader communications goals.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain SAMS’ bilingual website, ensuring timely updates, functionality, and security, while overseeing content audits and stakeholder requests.
- Develop and execute content strategies in English and Arabic for digital platforms (social media, website, email, SMS) to highlight SAMS’ impact.
- Write, edit, and translate compelling content across platforms, including social media posts, newsletters, press releases, donor materials, and video scripts.
- Oversee and grow SAMS’ social media presence by creating and scheduling posts, stories, and campaigns to drive engagement.
- Plan, build, and maintain content calendars and publishing schedules for all digital platforms, ensuring timely and consistent content delivery.
- Collaborate with field and HQ teams to source and produce multimedia content, including photos, videos, and infographics.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on digital platform performance (website, social media, email, SMS), providing insights for optimization and strategy refinement.
- Support digital advertising campaigns, including strategy development, execution, and performance tracking.
- Coordinate across teams to ensure messaging, branding, and campaign efforts are aligned across all platforms.
- Build and maintain relationships with influencers, bloggers, and partners to extend reach and visibility.
- Stay updated on digital trends, tools, and best practices, recommending improvements to SAMS’ communications strategy.
- Maintain organized documentation of digital assets, content libraries, schedules, and performance reports.
- Provide general communications support and contribute to department-wide initiatives as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
- 3-5 years in a communications, public relations, or similar role, preferably within the nonprofit or humanitarian sector.
- Native or near-native fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken).
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Proficiency in social media management tools and digital marketing strategies.
- Experience with graphic design and video production is a plus.
- Familiarity with translation software is a plus.
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Cultural awareness and sensitivity to issues affecting Arabic-speaking populations.
