Dr. Wissam Kiwan is a faculty member in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Saint Louis University (SLU), specializing in advanced endoscopy. He played a pivotal role in establishing SLU’s first advanced endoscopy fellowship program and is serving as its first program director. Dr. Kiwan is deeply committed to education, actively training residents and fellows to ensure they acquire comprehensive skills and knowledge in gastroenterology. Beyond SLU, Dr. Kiwan contributes to the broader medical community through his roles on the Educational Affairs Committee at the American College of Gastroenterology and the educational committee of the Syrian American Medical Society. He emphasizes effective communication, individualized treatments, and strong doctor-patient relationships, advocating for an empathetic, kind, and friendly approach to patient care. Currently, Dr. Kiwan is leading the initiative to establish an endoscopic bariatric and metabolic practice at SLU, where he will serve as the first endobariatric director.
