Dental Care Service Delivery:
Our therapeutic dental care for refugees and displaced populations is pivotal in clinics located in Jordan, Kurdistan, Lebanon, Greece and North Syria, where we:
- Implement guidelines to maintain high service standards.
- Provide training and education to local providers.
- Equip clinics with essential dental tools and technology.
- Develop support systems for urgent care needs outside regular mission schedules.
Dental Mission:
SAMS orchestrate six primary dental missions annually across Jordan, Lebanon, Greece, and North Syria, serving approximately 500 patients every mission.
Our dental missions support existing services and provide urgently needed care, including:
- Dental extractions.
- Pediatric full-mouth rehabilitation surgeries.
- Oral and maxillofacial surgical care.
- Comprehensive restorative and periodontal treatments.
Cranio Maxillofacial Missions:
Based on need assessment studies, SAMS also deploys multispecialty surgical teams consisting of maxillofacial surgeons, otolaryngologists, plastic surgeons, orthodontists, and dentists. These teams utilize advanced innovations such as surgical virtual reality and 3D printing to treat complex conditions including:
- Congenital deformities
- Facial reconstruction post traumatic injuries
- A variety of tumors excisions (jaw, parotid and thyroid)
Affordable Health Initiative Collaboration
SAMS dental committee and SAMS Jordan office team, are planning a pilot program, in collaboration with the UK based Affordable Health Initiative, that will target children aged 6-8 at selected schools in Zatari camp. This is a simple, affordable and scalable school based health promoting project with a focus on dental and oral care. This initiative serves as a foundation for potential expansion, eventually aiming to cover all schools within the camp. We plan to use the data gathered from Zaatari camp experience to refine and scale our services across the region
