Dr. Bakour is an associate professor of epidemiology at the College of Public Health, University of South Florida, where she is also the faculty lead of the epidemiology concentration in both the MPH and MSPH programs. Dr. Bakour obtained her MD from Damascus University, MPH from Independence University, and PhD in Public Health-Epidemiology from USF. She teaches epidemiology methods courses at the graduate level and mentors Master’s and Doctoral students in the epidemiology program. Her current research focuses on trauma, including adverse childhood experiences, war, and displacement-related trauma, and their impact on chronic diseases, sleep, and mental health. She is also interested in behavioral risk factors in children and adolescents and their impact on physical and mental health outcomes in adulthood.
