Abdulghani Sankari, MD, PhD, is a graduate of Aleppo University Faculty of Medicine and Wayne State University School of Medicine. He is a board-certified clinician in Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine, a SAMS member since 2006, and served as a board member and vice president from 2011-2013. Currently, he is a Professor and Associate Dean at Wayne State University, in addition to being Director of Medical Education, and Designated Institutional Official (DIO) at Henry Ford Providence Hospital. This year, he was appointed to the Michigan Board of Medicine for a four-year term. He has mentored over 35 students, physicians, and junior scientists and authored over 110 peer-reviewed papers and books. He is the father of Muna, Senna and Mohammed Fayez and is married to Safa Sankari.
