SAMS:
JORDAN REFUGEE CAMP AID

Protect Syrian Refugees

Al-Zaatari Refugee Camp is the largest camp for Syrians, housing 80,000 refugees. As many aid agencies withdraw, the demand for SAMS' services has never been greater.

That’s why we need your support to continue our critical work.

Why Jordan?

The Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) provides essential medical services to Syrian refugees and underserved host communities in Jordan. Home to nearly one million refugees, half of whom are children. Over 80% of these Syrians in Jordan live below the poverty line and are struggling to access the medical care they desperately need.

Since 2017, our medical center has provided these services free of charge, filling critical gaps and ensuring that refugees receive the care they need but your support is critical.

In the wake of aid agencies leaving Al-Zaatari Refugee Camp, a growing number of Syrian refugees in Jordan are seeking care with SAMS but we can't do it without you.

SAMS' Specialized Services

Mental Health and Psychosocial Support

Displacement takes a heavy toll on mental health, especially for children. SAMS offers:

  • Art and Play Therapy
  • Psychosocial Care in Amman and Irbid
  • Outreach and Awareness Activities

Supported by the Schooner Foundation, our programs help refugees cope with trauma and rebuild their lives.

Specialized Medical Missions

Our volunteers deliver specialized care through frequent medical missions, addressing gaps in secondary and tertiary healthcare. Highlights include:

  • Hearing Aid Medical Mission: 114 young refugees received hearing aids and speech therapy.
  • Innovative Transplant Program: Ongoing support for post-kidney transplant patients.
  • Diabetic Retinopathy Treatment: Continuous care for those with serious eye conditions.

Medical Education Residency Project

Supporting displaced Syrian medical graduates is crucial. SAMS funds residents in various specialties at Jordanian hospitals, helping them build a future while they help others.
