Position Title: Grant Management Intern

Employment Definition: Part Time Internship (10 -12 hours a week)
Location: SAMS office located at 1012 14th St. NW, Suite 910, near the McPherson metro stop (some remote flexibility also available)
Timeframe: Preferably in office once or twice a week, for a 3-4 month contract or one semester as needed for student
Proposed Salary/Wage: $750 monthly stipend
Role Summary/Purpose: SAMS HQ Programs Department has transitioned to an electronic grants management system (GMS), AmpliFund. The GMS is used to store documents, basic grant data, and produce financial reports. The Grant Management Intern will work closely with the Program Manager and will be responsible for providing administrative and organizational support to move electronic documents into the GMS. Through this role, the Grant Management Intern will learn about the grants life-cycle, comprehension of a grant agreement contract, while having the opportunity to learn the programmatic details of SAMS’ work. SAMS has approximately 25 ongoing projects. The Grant Management Intern will be expected to understand the requirements listed in a grant agreement (narrative, financial and asset reporting requirements), verify what documents are missing from existing folders, and upload missing documents as they are received from the country office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review grant agreements to understand what records should be saved in each program folder, specific to the grant agreement
- Preform compliance tasks such as reviewing project files to ensure all programmatic and contracting documents are present, while documenting missing material on a tracker
- Upload electronic documents into the program folder
- Record data for tracking payment requests and payments received
- Maintain a spreadsheet of the review status of each project folder
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
- University degree preferred, but not required
- Interest in non-profit management
- Exceptional planning and organizing skills, demonstrated ability to work independently, apply initiative and work under pressure to meet multiple and changing priorities, deadlines and objectives
- Ability to follow and take directions, implement a process once trained
- Knowledge and experience of relevant software applications – spreadsheets, word processing and database management
