Role Summary/Purpose: SAMS is looking for a part-time “Programs Intern” position to join the Grants and Programs Department. The Grants Intern will be responsible for providing administrative and programmatic support services to designated grants and program staff at HQ in areas such as new business development, research implementation and monitoring throughout the life-cycle of various project. The candidate will interact with SAMS international programs in Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Greece, Syria, and Turkey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research potential grant opportunities and assist the grants/ programs team in applying to relevant opportunities (including the drafting of needs assessments, executive summaries, and other critical sections in proposals)
  • Maintain proposal pipeline to track submitted opportunities and pre-positioning for upcoming ones.
  • Maintain and update project records and filing/ tracking systems regularly
  • Track win/loss rate on submitted opportunities
  • Attend internal meetings SAMS country teams and external meetings with donors, potential partners, and subpartners as required
  • Maintain project records, including reporting schedules, and liaise with field offices, as requested, to ensure donor reports are submitted on time
  • Assist with project start-up, ongoing implementation and close-out actions in accordance with SAMS’ standard procedures
  • Assist grants/ programs teams in copy editing reports shared by field offices in: Turkey, Iraq, Lebanon, Greece, and Jordan
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s student preferred
  • Exceptional writing abilities
  • Interest in non-profit management
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication, and highly developed liaison and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional planning and organizing skills, demonstrated ability to work independently, apply initiative and work under pressure to meet multiple and changing priorities, deadlines and objectives
  • Knowledge and experience of relevant software applications – spreadsheets, word processing and database management

Desired Characteristics:

  • Interest/ experience in public health, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS), Gender-based violence, or protection
  • Bilingual (Arabic)
